Ladies and gentleman...

Captain Kameamea! Shall we begin the petition drive now to rename Walker Street where it passes the stadium to “Ching Way”?

Beauty.

Right now, the streets around the stadium are Walker on the south, Dowling to the east and Texas to the north.

However, both Capitol and Rusk dead end into the place between US 59 and the stadium. I’m thinking Walker, Capitol and Rusk are prime renaming opportunities.

I like this part:

Ching, who has an accounting degree, has made it clear he would like to play at least one more year in Houston to play in the team’s new stadium. But if the Impact picks him, he will stay in the Dynamo’s front office in hopes of continue to grow the sport of soccer in Houston.

“I feel like my home is here now,” Ching said. “This is where I want to be, with the Dynamo. I would want to play in the new stadium, and if I can’t it would hurt a lot. But if they pick me I’ll be at the new stadium as part of the front office, not as a player.”

WOW!!!!!

You just don’t see commitment to a city and team like that very often anymore. Biggio and bagwell excluded, who else has been this passionate about houston? Akeem finished in toronto. Moon finished in minnesota. Ryan finished in dallas (arlington a.k.a. occupied oklahoma south). For someone so substantial to say and MEAN those things is just awe inspiring. Dale ching, dale.
