Dynamo Have Made a Trade and I Have Speculative Theories
The Dynamo have acquired an unknown 24-year old defensive midfielder from an unknown team for a conditional draft pick.
No seriously.
The details came from Jesus Ortiz on Twitter, but that's all we know right now. The player has apparently not been informed of the trade so that's delaying the press release...but that won't stop up from speculating!
My most likely candidates are Dax McCarty, Nathan Sturgis, or Joseph Nane...but that's only because these are all the 24-year old players currently listed on MLS rosters that I believe could be, or are considered defensive midfielders. I'd really like to see Dax in Houston...is that odd? Unfortunately, McCarty doesn't make sense in terms of salary for the Dynamo's cap space.
However it could be Rodrigo Lopez, Austin da Luz, Brad Ring, Daniel Keat, Milos Stojcev, Keon Daniel, Steven Beitashour, Justin Morrow or Brad Nielsen and I'm just not properly aware of their positional place in the midfield...but they are all midfielders. I'm ruling out Robbie Rogers, Emmanuel Ekpo, Eric Avila, Sal Zizzo, Will Johnson and Marco Pappa because they aren't defensive midfielders and I doubt any could be obtained for a conditional draft pick anyway.
So there ya go, chew on that while we wait for the official announcement.

Da Luz
He mostly plays left midfield, a little on the right. He doesn’t do much defending, so he’s probably not your guy.

Thanks for the insight on him.

Not surprised you favor Dax
… some kinda ginger solidarity thing.

Keon Daniel
Would probably cross him off your list—definitely not a DM, played on the wing for the Union. BUT Union has 11 internal players and only 8 roster slots, so it’s possible.
Thanks for the info

Rodgers
I am thinking maybe rodgers. If any part is wrong it could be the DM part. He wants out and they want to get something for him. Maybe Dynamo just get his rights and still have to sign him? Thats why the price could be so low..
I'm thinking
flexibility here since this apparently means we’re sticking with Camargo as CM/CAM and Moffat at DM, though I’d imagine whoever this is would either be: a) more physical or b) more skillful. If we’re going more physical, perhaps Joseph Nane? And if more skillful, Austin da Luz? Me not know…I’ve tried this before with Dom and I’m typically off-base. Guess we’ll find out soon enough

//make this announcement soon, could ya Canetti??
sturgis?
Waking The Red makes a strong case that it’s Sturgis … Apparently he’s surplus to requirements. If so, good for the Dynamo. I like his passing range.
