Dynamo Open 2012 Season at Chivas USA

Just a quick press release announcing the national broadcast schedule for First Kick 2012 in MLS. The Dynamo will be a part of the festivites as their season opener against Chivas USA at the Home Depot Center will be on Galavision.

HOUSTON, TX (Tuesday, December 6, 2011) -- The Houston Dynamo will open the 2012 Major League Soccer season on Sunday, March 11, against Chivas USA at The Home Depot Center. The match, which can be seen nationally on Galavision, is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. CT.

The Dynamo are 0-1-2 when opening the MLS season on the road and are 0-3-3 all-time in road openers. Houston split the home-and-away series with Chivas in 2011 and is 9-2-5 all-time against the Goats in the regular season.

With the addition of Montreal Impact as the 19th team in MLS, the league has gone back to an unbalanced schedule, meaning that every team will not play every other team home and away. Nine games will be played during the opening week of the season, with four of those games to be broadcast on national TV. The full league schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

And of course, with the unbalanced schedule...

…this will be the only time we play las chivitas. And that is really too bad because that team has never won in Houston, right? I guess our undefeated mark against them in Houston is now guaranteed until 2013.

The schedule item I’m really on pins and needles about is the one game we’ll get against the Friscovites. I really, really want that game to be here in the new place.

I have nothing to back this, but I’d be shocked if the stadium opener wasn’t Dynamo v FCD.

I’d be happy with Dynamo vs. Montreal

Also

wow, I guess I’ve had my head so deep in spreadsheets I didn’t bother to realize that the start of the season will be here relatively quickly.

We really need Dom & Canetti to have a good-to-great off-season if we’re going to christen the new stadium by winning the Cup next season. Just sayin’
