Caleb Porter Calls Three Dynamo Players to USMNT U-23 Camp
It's always a good sign about the your club's future when three players, well three and a potential fourth future Dynamo star, get called in to a US Men's National Team U-23 training camp. Danny Cruz, Kofi Sarkodie and Will Bruin head to Florida starting next week for a week long camp with new U-23 head coach Caleb Porter.
Dynamo Academy defender Sebastien Ibeagha will join them as well as the Porter begins the process of preparing for Olympic qualifiers in the spring. In case you haven't heard of Ibeagha, he's currently a sophomore at Duke University and a protected academy player for the Dynamo. He's 6' 1" and will turn 20 years old in January. Keep his name on your radar as he could be a big part of the Dynamo defense in the coming years.
Here's the press release with all the exciting details, including the full camp roster.
HOUSTON, TX (Thursday, December 08, 2011) -- Houston Dynamo forward Will Bruin, midfielder Danny Cruz, defender Kofi Sarkodie, and Dynamo Academy defender Sebastien Ibeagha have been named to the 28-player roster for the upcoming U.S. Under-23 men's national team training camp. The eight-day camp will run from Dec. 15-23 in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., at the Premier Sports Campus. This will be the first camp under new U-23 head coach Caleb Porter.
"At every camp we expect to push the group forward by continuing to evaluate the player pool while imprinting the concepts of how we will play as a team on both sides of the ball," said Porter. "As we sort through our personnel and start to hone in on the roster, it is equally as important that the players develop a clear understanding of the culture of how we will do things leading up to our first match in Nashville."
The U.S. Under-23 Men's National Team was drawn into Group A of the 2012 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament and will face Canada, Cuba and El Salvador. The teams will play their group matches from March 22-26 at LP Field in Nashville. The two finalists from the tournament will qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games in London next summer.
Bruin and Sarkodie are currently on the Generation adidas trip to The Netherlands, and will join the camp upon their arrival back in the United States. Sarkodie has represented his country previously having played at the FIFA U-17 World Cup and has three caps for the U-20 national team. Bruin will be making his first appearance at a national team camp following a stellar rookie campaign with the Dynamo.
Cruz represented the United States at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt and helped the U.S. qualify for that tournament with two assists in the CONCACAF U-20 Championship. Cruz was also on the U-17 squad that participated in the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup in South Korea and the Pan American Games in Brazil.
Ibeagha, a 2010 graduate of Fort Bend Hightower High School in the Houston area, is one of two players currently in college to be selected for the camp. The former Dynamo Academy centerback just completed his sophomore season at Duke University. He was named to the All-ACC second team this past season after earning All-ACC freshman honors in 2010. Ibeagha has seven caps for the U-20 national team including two appearances at the CONCACAF U-20 qualifying tournament last spring.

Michael_D and rgleave0202 want to know what Porter has against Alex Dixon.

Back to the future
Remember back in the day a few years ago when every time the US Nats got together during the MLS season, Dynamo went shorthanded?
well, it appears we might be headed that way again. That’s a good problem to have, and I am excited for these guys. It’s nice that Porter is helping a kid from his program, HRH Sarkodie, get some more national notice, but it’s even nicer that he’s forcing the young guy to stay in shape during the offseason. If Sarkodie comes out of that camp smelling like a rose, and then a month later comes full guns into Dynamo camp, we could finally be seeing a right-sided answer.
Don’t get me wrong. I think Hainault is fabulous over there, but I also think that potentially, having Sarkodie on the right, Hainault and Cameron in the center, and Ashe on the left, may just be a better long-term solution. That may leave Boswell on the outs, but as Capt. Kirk once told the Klingon Christopher Lloyd, “C’est la vie.” I think the person it truly leaves on the outs is Jermaine Taylor, and for that we may all be quite thankful.
(So Michael_D and rgleave0202, I await your return volley about Sarkodie being my Alex Dixon.)

You are a one man symphonic orchestra band for Herr Dixon.
I'm gonna intervene if
We find out you’re drawing little hearts @ work and writing Alex in them.
Gawd, MAN, you have a wife and kids!!!

The Union picking up Martinez- who was either on Micheal’s or my list for Fuzion’s make ur own team lineup…

Chirp chirp go the local media crickets re: potential orange signings
Does that mean nuthin is going on?
Nah
It just means the same as every season — follow @DynamoTheory on Twitter and keep up to date on all Dynamo news the local media has no clue about.
Lol. Seriously, I’m more confident in OUR research and breaking news than theirs. Hell…Ginge broke the Koke story before the local media could even dream of such things. Still damn proud to be part of a blog that can do that.

(Gulp)
for the most part yes, the DT network of spies and snitches gives the Illuminati a run for the money, though I will say JdJO has stepped up his game at the chron…sadly, he seems to be an island against the continent of coverage given to the Texans. C’est la vie
You best start producing more post Fuzion or you may lose your spot ;)
