Dynamo Considering Spanish Forward Koke for DP Spot?

Photo

I'm going to have to classify this as a rumor, but it's worth talking about none the less.

According to The Gazetta in Greece, 27-year old Spanish striker Sergio Contreras Pardo, aka. Koke is considering move to the Dynamo. Koke currently plays for Aris of the Greek Super League and according to the article, he has asked the club to allow him to make the transfer to MLS.

Koke has played for Malaga (Spain) and Marseille (France) before joining Aris in 2006 where he's made 175 appearances with 38 goals.

The need for another forward on the Dynamo roster lends this story some credibility but there has been nothing from the Dynamo as yet about this rumor. If they are working to bring in Koke, they'll have to complete the deal by Friday, April 15th when MLS' transfer window closes until the summer.

More on this if the story develops.

In the meantime, what do you think about this news Dynamo fans?

I still feel what we need most is a true attacking center mid. In Kinnear’s system he is the hub that all play should flow through. Geoff’s doing his best, but someone with more experience playing in that slot would be good for right now.

I don't know much about this guy

But he seems to be the type of player I would want them to sign in that he’s not a guy who’s best days are behind him. At 27 he should be in his prime. His name might not immediately sell more tickets to the casual fan, but going for a big name only provides a short term boost if they don’t improve the team. Getting a good player who helps the team wins championships has a much bigger impact long term than bringing in an over the hill “name” who’s heart is not in it.

@papabear

I remember hearing his name pop up a few years ago but I think it was his links to Marseille. From what I gather and from what I’ve read he should be a solid signing: he’s clearly not an A-list Spanish striker like David Villa or the like but he’s probably B to high C-level striker, which here in MLS means he’d be great. And exactly, he’s still young and looking for a challenge which I imagine is why he’d want to leave Greece. Considering he’s not that expensive (relatively speaking), I think this is one signing that will pay dividends because he’s dangerous enough to keep defenders honest (something Oduro could never properly do) and take some of the pressure off of Will to help him develop along. I think the pairing of them together could make for a very, very dangerous Dynamo duo.

kOKE TO H TOWN

 Do not know what to make of this move. Forwards is the weakest part of this team. Thought they could get the job done if they got better midfield play.
 Can he play with Ching or Ching with him? Think we need a attacking midfield player. Maybe Watson can do it if so it would make sense to get a striker.

It’s worth nothing that Koke has played as a CAM for the past couple seasons at Aris, he can also play on the wing and up front…pretty versatile.
