I happened to be watching my Twitter feeds tonight and something caught my eye. It was a tweet from Rocky Harris himself with a link to a video of the construction ongoings of the new Dynamo Stadium downtown. It's quite possibly the best look at the construction we've seen to date, and to top it off they take a little time to show some of where things will be and how things are situated.

I have to say what I am most excited about when it comes to the new Stadium is going to be the sense of this being our turf, our home. There will be a certain level of pride associated with this stadium from day one, and a certain sense of team that the stadium will bring. I'm looking forward to knowing the condition of the pitch will be top notch each and every time the team plays, especially on National TV like ESPN2 or FSC. I'm looking forward to seeing the true sea of orange that will be opening kickoff 2012.

I’m really looking forward to finding out what the eventual name will be. I know we live in an age where it will carry a corporate brand, which I think is a foregone conclusion. Oh well. But that doesn’t stop us from going up with our own informal monikers that refer to the stadium’s area such as:
Dowling Street
EaDo (a name I personally hate, but that others use when referring to east downtown)
Easttown Park
Eastex Park (the name that US 59 has there)
Walker Street (Since the main entrance will be on Walker)
Or incorporating the Color of Colors
Orangeville
East Orange
Orangina

As for my thoughts on it, exactly as you alluded to: its a place specifically for the Dynamo. Our place. A place we can put our mark on and other teams will circle on their calendars as the place that is difficult to play at. Stoked
