Glenn Davis on sports790

So I was listening to Glenn like I always do on Monday evenings and the potential Dynamo signings in mind are Carlo Costly, Jerry Bengtson, Celso Borges, Rodolfo Zelaya, and if I’m not mistaken Oscar Boniek Garcia. These are names Glenn hears about being linked to the Dynamo. Also he said there’s a young Mexican forward coming in tomorrow to train with the Dynamo. He didn’t say who it was but let’s see how everything plays out tomorrow

Its funny how wikipedia says that it seems like Zelaya is heading to the Dynamo

Costly

Carlo Costly is a player i would be happy to have on the team. He is always a problem for the US and Mexico in WC Qualifying playing for Honduras. He doesn’t seem to be as prolific for his clubs though. Hes gotten little time with Atlas (My second favorite team after la naranja), and they are always willing to sell, or at least hear an offer.

Celso Borges will not happen, Bolton is interested, plus he did his time in Scandinavia and is going to be playing Europa League if he sticks with Red Star Belgrade. I would assume he stays in Europe.

Torres would be awesome. Bengston is good too. I don’t know about Zelaya though, he may struggle physically.

anyone hear about De Ro’s trade to DC for Dax McCarty? interesting no?

As far as Dynamo trades, we need to off Chabala and Boswell. At this point, i think we could get somebody decent for Cameron. I think that is he does not leave the Dynamo nobody will ever find out what his position truly is. I thought jordan Graye looked decent in preseason, surprised he hasnt had a shot. anyone know how hes looked for the reserves?

Its funny

As I was watching the Mexico v Honduras match I thought the same thing: Costly is a really big, physical striker with a nice touch and seemed to be causing problems for the Mexican defenders (he dwarfed a few of them). As the game went on he started to act a bit silly and trying to hard to get calls but I guess that’s par for the course. In any event, I thought he would be a really nice addition to the team…the only issue being we tend to have large, physical strikers. And while Costly would be nice, I wonder if we could find someone who can provide pace and creativity to pull defenders from our larger strikers. Of course, finding and actually signing such a person is the brass ring…

Transfer Rumors

Carlos Costly – The cost, not pun intended, is far too high on him to come to MLS

Jerry Bengston – Has said publicity he has no interest in coming to MLS

Costly looks every bit the type of guy who plays well for his country, not so much for his club and would be a big bust in MLS not taking it seriously. BIG grain of salt there.

costly

listened to some interviews and did some research. He is exactly that, all fire for honduras and ice cold for club. plus he is prone to getting frustrated and lashing out. What about some of the players for Guadeloupe? some of those guys were pretty good, though i think the ones that stood out already play in france, besides their captain who plays for K C or something.

What about Tejada from Panama? some of those Panamanian players were sick, very athletic with a good touch.

Reminds me...

A memory that stuck out for me from the US v Guadeloupe match was Livio Nabab…he was a tall (I think he’s 6’1"), lanky FW who was running like the wind. I don’t think he was ever able to seriously threaten but I knew that he was a handful for Lichaj…was fearfless and I just remember he had explosive pace. But of course he plays in France and don’t even know if he’d be on the radar but hey, it’s neat to play “what if”

Good ideas

All of those mentioned would help, some more than others, the important thing is that we do something to help ourselves.
