Tuesday Orange Slices: Who is Miler Castillo?
Canetti pointed to the scout's recommendation that Castillo is a forward who's speedy - something the Dynamo covet - but who will be able to withstand the physical tolls that come with playing in MLS. That's a hurdle many international players struggle to deal with upon arriving in the US.

I spotted this info on Zelaya from Glenn Davis' twitter timeline

The Google translation is less than clear…although still better than my Spanish

Here’s the Google translation of the story:
SAN SALVADOR – Rodolfo Zelaya negotiated with Lisandro Pohl possible move to MLS after his return from the Gold Cup, but under conditions of contract in that he does not lose out as a first approach with the Americans there was no economic basis.
“There was not because they offered me an amount of money that seemed unfair and far from the claims of my team, I have done to get my counter to see if they agree or not. The truth is that I like to play abroad, I MLS has a lot of quality to develop, but I want to do it fairly economically. "
The player who made three goals for the Selection of El Salvador in the Gold Cup recalled its previous experience abroad specifically in the Mexican league promotion.
“I had a bad experience playing abroad and I do not want to live it again just for the sake of going out to play in another league or country. I feel that the Gold Cup has been valued at national player and I think my economic claims are to short of what one showed in this tournament and I’m not going to play another foreign league for a few dollars more, "said ‘Fito’.

No hopes up here
Castillo is listed as a striker and has been playing in the Mexican second division for Lobos BUAP.. In the Apertura season the 24-year-old scored four goals in 16 games, was subbed on five times and off six times and played 1,091 minutes. That’s more than double the action he saw in the fall Clausura, where he played 405 minutes over five games, subbing in once and was subbed off twice with no goals.

I agree
No more dime store bargains. If we buy, hopefully we buy in form players. If the are on the front line, they need to be near the top of their leagues on the goal scoring charts. We have quite enough maybe starters and not so many positively standing out…
That's a great thought but it's easier said than done
If a player is a star in another league he’s not likely available to us (unless we go the retirement tour route which I don’t want to do). Either the price is going to be too high (even with a greenlight on a DP there’s limited resources), the player sees MLS as a step down, or the player is garnering attention from other bigger leagues. There’s going to need to be a little bit of a diamond in the rough aspect to it. We just need to get better at spotting them.

Davis said in a 45 minute full field scrimmage Castillo touched the ball once, not very active
Said he gets a pass because it’s the first day, but that is not promising. At least not in the immediate help/turn the team around quickly way.
