Quick takes
1. Baldomero Toledo is going to be the ref. That’s like saying, “Oh boy, Sepp Blatter just got reelected to be FIFA president.” If the Marquis de Sade himself were to see this sort of punishment coming at him, I think his response would be “No really. What kind of pain do you think I want here??”
2. All bow to HRH.
3 and 4. It seems to me that both Lovell and Ortiz are taking pains to make thei moms proud of them and say polite things. But it seems that what they really want to say is what Glenn Davis said, that after his first day, Castillo touched the ball only a few times. Though I do like this line of JdJO’s towards the end of the piece:
Castillo is fitter, faster and hungrier than Koke, who arrived overweight with a sense of entitlement.
OK, Darren, and Jose, your moms would be proud.
5. Hmmm. Good effort boys. Now learn from that because after spending my childhood despising Tommy Lasorda and all things Los Angeles, I hate losing to any team from that city.
