Let me just say...
When Alexei begins to throw his weight around…it’s going to get something done. Whether it helps or not is still in question, but I applaud the challenging of how horrid the official was. I just wish he’d jump further and bring into question ALL of the officiating of MLS, since it’s ALL on the same caliber.
Kudos for finding that article though Ginge. LOVE the link.

Wow, leave it to MLS to find a ref worse, WORSE mind you, than Abbey Okalaja. The mind boggles.
Saw the highlights of that game today, and, hoo boy. But you know, with Bartomelo Toledo reffing our game against Colorado, I’m just amazed we didn’t see something similar.
You know, I’m not that upset with coming out of Colo with a point. Best chance all game from either side, I think, was Ching’s near miss. I’ve always said that any improvement is going to come from the back, and I like that fact that Sarkodie is getting time to get better back there. Still, if Taylor does that again, then it’s to the Hunter Freeman cell with him.
I also like the fact that the defense doesn’t have to post a great night to get the clean sheet. Still, it would be nice if the attack had something going for it. At this point, I think the only improvement on attack is going to come from imported blood (though not nec foreign).

And by the way, I think Jack Bell’s points proposal stinks. Here’s a couple of nice thought experiments to perhaps increase scoring:
Change the offside rule so that you’re only offside if the player’s whole body is off. And
Change the offside rule to say eliminate the over and back. If you receive the ball in an onside position, you’re on, no matter if you were off when it was kicked.
I offer these ideas not as serious proposals, but as discussion starters. Of course, actually calling fouls from behind and improving the overall quality of officiating will also increase scoring in my opinion. But that might just be too radical a notion for MLS. :>
