Dynamo Host Real Salt Lake in, You Guessed It, Another Important Match

Photo

It's beginning to sound a bit like a broken record saying that the next match for the Houston Dynamo is important or a must win, but at this stage of the season with the Dynamo in the playoffs by the skin of their teeth, that's simply going to be the case.

Tonight's match against Real Salt Lake provides an interesting challenge for Houston in both the fact that RSL is still a good team (don't let the record and schizophrenic results fool you) and that Adam Moffat, who's been a revelation since joining the club in a trade, is suspended. Brazilian midfielder Luiz Camargo finally got his visa paperwork approved but the won't arrive in town until Monday, so in all likelihood, Geoff Cameron will have to play a more defensive midfield role tonight...and that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Sure Cameron has been much stronger in the CAM role since Moffat arrived but at least he understands how to defend and Je-Vaughan Watson can step in the midfield and help, hopefully.

The bigger issues I see in this match for Houston is the laundry list of players one or two yellow cards from a suspension.Brad Davis is one away, but another match without a yellow the "good behavior incentive" kicks in.  Bobby BoswellHunter Freeman, and Cam Weaver are all two matches away.

For the moment, nothing we can really do about that and the team needs to just play and worry about continuing their improved form at home tonight. Three points are a must again with four teams behind the Dynamo in the playoff standings all having at least one game in hand.

What do you expect from tonight's match and who do you expect to start up front?

Game thread will be up tonight about an hour before the match.

Actually those players are in danger after 2 yellows away

I believe Davis could be 1 yellow away, but he’s had enough games without a card that it may have been pushed to 2 yellows away from being suspended.

PLAYER NUMBERS

so i was looking at the roster and the only decent numbers left for camargo to pick from are 6, 14, 17, and 22.

However, while looking at the roster there are several players undeserving of their numbers (which as a futbol fan i value highly): Jason Garey – #9 (WTF?!?! no way he deserves the 9 shirt); Jevaughan Watson – #10 (outrageous);

These player’s numbers hardly make sense: Calen Carr – #3 (this is a LB or RB number, why did he pick 3?); Carlo Costly – #29 (his favorite #13 was taken by Cobo, but 14 was available)

I propose a reshuffle of the numbers next season. and getting ri of watson
