Thanks Ginge

I realize right now this is a bit of a thankless job because really, what more can we say about this past week’s game and the game that is upcoming? We should’ve won but didn’t, and need to win but haven’t won on the road yet. This is not complicated.

But I’m very happy to see Stu getting ready to get back into action after a lengthy rehab (from a knuckle-headed tackle)…we do miss him dearly, but that bird was never meant to be caged. Fly and be free.

Cornfused

Martin Vasquez being Klinsy’s “Jogi” Löw?

Umm, is there something he sees that we didn’t during Vasquez’s stinsts at Chivas and Bayern?

End of Europe's silly season today

Interesting watching Wenger trying to save the Gunner’s season and possibly his job. Like the Dynamo last year, why did it wait so long?

PRECISELY

What I’ve been thinking: Canetti & Co should be watching closely because Arsenal offers a cautionary tale that we’re feeling already. And when you get desperate, you make desperate moves that may or not work out. Wenger seems to be in the same boat…I dearly hope he can right the Good Ship Arsenal because its going to get lonely for ManU(re), Citeh and my beloved Chelski…though Liverpool is playing some inspired football too.

Hoping

Bruin, Cruz, Dixon, Deric, Soto, Camargo, and Costly get minutes this Sunday.

Especially Camargo- if not now, when?

Has to be

this weekend, otherwise it was a complete and utter waste of time and money. If he’s going to be our answer at AM/CAM we need to know, like, now.

Is Bruin cleared to practice? I’d love to see him get back in the last 3-4 games, even if 15 minutes at a time and a couple of reserve matches. Same with Soto and Deric.

I’d really like to see Dixon getting 30 minutes or so a game, I think the more time he’s given the more we’ll see from him. Young, pacey, good movement, his passing ideas are good but not always the execution (though that comes with time) and may be able to score (ahem)…but the question is where? We could start seeing a backlog at mid (what a problem to have!) because Moffat holds down the DM, Davis on the left (though maybe Dixon could sub in for him), Camargo – if he works out – at AM/CAM, though perhaps Dixon or Soto could sub there as well, and Cruz/Clark on the right. That’d actually be a pretty nice midfield to have

What about Navas Cobo?

He should get a run this weekend.

I'd like

to see him getting more minutes too…maybe a late sub or getting sub minutes with this “friendly” match. We’ve got 3 promising MF’s (Soto, Cobo and Dixon) who could also be a big part of our future in the next couple of years, so start getting them minutes now and even more next season.

Just what we really need- another useless marketing ploy

Border derbies thru friendlies- is that like friends with benefits?

Is this a case of feel the passion or just taking care of biological needs?

Play FTW

I nominate the preceding post for Comment of the Week (and yes, I just created that)

Well said and well done, good sir

Damn

And I just cut your legs out from under you about Torres.

Ummmm, thanks?

by playtherapy on Aug 31, 2011 1:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah

thanks “pal” ;-)

When you’re right, you’re right…and so far, what you’ve said about Torres seems to ring true, despite my desire for it to be otherwise.

And as for these so-called-friendlies, I see it as a glorified reserve match and treat them accordingly. Put Deric betwixt the sticks and give Camargo, Cobo, Soto and Dixon a run-out and see what happens. Monterrey will do exactly the same.
