Around SBN: Kobe Bryant Will Never Top Michael Jordan

101 days and counting

BBVA Compass Stadium is set to open in 101 short days. This week, seats will start getting installed and work will begin on laying down the pitch. Here's a quick video from HoustonDynamo.com on progress. (Hard for me to listen to these guys as I keep looking at the area where my seats are going to be!)

If this doesn't temporarily get your mind off the lack of big name signings, nothing will.

UPDATE: Here are Facebook pictures of the installation of drainage and irrigation systems.

LOL

Big name signings? How about only a minor one- Nate Sturgis. The good- this minor move cemented Cameron @ CB. The bad? Though the roster losses were not as bad as after 2009, the alarming lack of replacements feels disturbingly familiar.

Let's not go there

our depth will be tested this season, and I dearly hope the collection of kids & journeymen we’re putting together will be enough.

Scrimage

Who went? I saw that watson was in the second half. Looking at the stats seems like he hasn’t changed at all…

Ching, Freeman, Robinson, Cruz- while these losses seem paltry compared to losing Holden and Clark, we lost a lot of veteran leadership, sometime starters, and especially bench strength. So far, these have been replaced with…. drum roll please…. wait for it…
Nate Sturgis. Nate is a good bench player/sometime starter. But what you see is what you get (no real surprises) and even so, he doesn’t bring a lot of depth. Rookies are great-but they’re green and seem to see little sunshine under Dom unless they’re blue chip.
