Any Trialist Keepers?
I was just wondering who people thought could make the team out of our remaining trialists.
- Ownby
- Roberts
- Sato
- Arreola
- Creavalle
- Reico
- Aseweh

Thoughts
I think Sato has made a big impression and he will get one of the last two spots. Also depends if the Dynamo are done dealing. Possible they are still shopping for impact players not on trial.
I agree that a couple more could be offered off budget spots.
Ownby, Arreola, Crevalle all have had good preseasons.
Don’t think Roberts has done enough and won’t be here much longer.

Sounds about right
I think players that can contribute almost immediately (though that deserves its own set of qualifiers) would be Sato, Ownby, Creavalle and Arreola, in that order.
Sato adds another dimension to our front line, Ownby has shown to be very active either in the midfield or playing up top(ish), and Creavalle might end up being a utility defender like Taylor for now; I like to imagine him as Taylor’s back-up.
Though honestly, the one who I think may have the greatest impact is Arreola. If we don’t sign him, even to the reserves, we’re nuts. Fearless, good head on his shoulders and loads of creativity and technique, and he’s still very young. Sign him and stash him in the reserves and let him grow there, maybe bleed him into the first team late in the season.
Advantage to college kids -
they can go on off-budget roster, Sato can’t.
Arreola was great at UCLA and has continued to impress in preseason.
Do u really need Ownby if u already have a speed fwd in Carr and an off-budget fwd in Colin Rolfe?
Still quite a few spots open on the Houston roster from what I can tell (only 22 or 23 of 30 taken so far?)
Win or lose, we'll always be there for you.

Just based on the one scrimmage I got to see (SMU)
I think Sato, Creavalle, and then a toss up between Areolla and Ownby.
Ownby seemed to stand out that day becasue he was so involved which is a good thing. He got several dangerous looks on goal. He had a few decent crosses as well. He also seemed to get knocked off the ball too easily, and was a little too dedicated to just trying to out-sprint his man down the flank with a ball. His most dangerous moments came when Sarkodie pushed up and Ownby would tuck inside, but that was mostly because SMU seemed clueless with how to mark that and left Ownby wide open. I think he’s got some potential, but it will take some time for him to develop.

Interesting
I wish I could’ve made one of the scrimmages just so that I could evaluate, but its interesting to read an eyewitness account – and of course from a trusted source. It’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out in the Mouse Tournament to see who gets the nod to stay on the team.
I was planning on going to that scrimmage
But the weather was bad and I live so far out that I would be kicking myself for showing up to a cancelled event. I’ll just have to wait for the real thing in the new stadium.
