Just saw this Tweet from JdJO

With all due respect to @SoccerByIves, the Dynamo’s talks with Fulham’s Andy Johnson died weeks ago.
Oh well. Brian Ownby it is then.
"We don't care who finishes second." -- Celtic's Peter Lowrie
Damn you're good
I was about to post something to the Johnson thread asking if there was any update and lo, you post this nugget. Oh well, would’ve been very nice but looks like we’re taking chances either with Ownby or Darryl Roberts
Assuming
things stay as-is, we’d have the following up top:
Bruin-Kandji
Weaver-Carr
D. Roberts-Rolfe
I’m not sure about those pairings, but at the least the names would be about right. I’m just putting this based on assumed pecking order, with Bruin likely continuing as a starter and I don’t think Kandji is coming off the bench either. So I’d imagine it’d be Weaver-Carr since they’re holdovers from last season, and thus higher in the pecking order than a “trialist” and a rookie
Having Kandji and Carr would be trouble for defenses because of their speed
But having someone like Bruin or Weaver fits our style of play more.
Kandji
not sure where he is at now but he was solid for Colorado in 2010 and that move he pulled off to score the cup winning goal was ridiculous and the type of thing every kid dreams about growing up. Really tragic he had to injury himself doing it.
Win or lose, we'll always be there for you.

Time will tell
if he is the answer, We need to give him time to prove himself.
I'm excited about Kandji
As long as he stays healthy I really think he could have a great impact. In aboute minute 9 in the video above you can see him playing very well against Tottenham and Man City.
This guy has awesome speed, great passing, seems very difficult to steal the ball from and It seems he can play behind the strikers. Also seems to be pretty hard working. I’m very happy with this signing.
I really hope we take the CCL seriously. If we see it all the way through we could be playing Barcelona at the club world cup! Wouldn’t that be bad ass?
Don't look so far ahead...
Not taking things one game at a time is how you lose to the red bulls 3-0 in the first leg of the playoffs. There’s 23 other teams that want to win just as much as we do, and just look at the MLS teams. For an outside observer we’re the Rapids in this tournament. We don’t deserve to be here. First things first we need to show everyone what we already know we deserve to be here, we’ve been here before, and we’ll continue to get here. And we’re not going to take the easy route like Seattle (accomplish nothing, but have fans swoon over their dominance in the US Open Cup)

not sure what you are getting at....
Most of those sentences did not seem to connect. I didn’t say were going to win it all. I said wouldn’t it be cool if if we won the ccl….. By no means am I calling. Nor would I compare us to rapids……. Naysayer. We got 2nd in MLS cup, we more than deserve that spot dude.

Naysayer?
I think you misunderstood. When I said we don’t deserve to be here I meant many non-Houston MLS fans will think we don’t deserve to be here. I think many people wont give us the respect we deserve because we got hot at the right time and made it to the finals. I’m no naysayer because I believe we deserve to be in the CCL, but the dynamo doesn’t have to prove it to their fans they have to prove it to opposing (MLS) fans.
I know you were just talking about what ifs, but I would much rather not get ahead of ourselves. Not that I don’t believe we can win, but just on the principle of the thing. Not to mention you’re more likely to lose if you are not 100% focused on the game at hand. A lesson learned through that loss against the Red Bulls in 08.
