Macoumba Kandji hasn't made much noise over the offseason, but he could be closer to closing the door on a Houston Dynamo return.
With the Houston Dynamo drafting Jason Johnson last week in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft, many have assumed it closes the door for the return of Macoumba Kandji to the club. During an interview with Monica Gonzalez in the latter part of the draft, Dominic Kinnear mentioned Kandji had moved on.
Kandji and his whereabouts have been unknown thus far, but today a team in the second division of France gave him a mention on Twitter.
It appears Kandji will be on trial with Clermont Foot in France's Ligue 2. The club tweeted this out today:
Macoumba Kandji, attaquant mis à l'essai cette semaine, est aussi sur Twitter: @mackandji #clermontfoot
— Clermont Foot (@ClermontFoot) January 20, 2013
Roughly translated using the always helpful Google Translate, the team says Kandji was tested this week and gives their follows his official Twitter handle.
In addition, the Clermont's website confirmed Kandji will be on trial during the week ahead.
Clermont Foot finished in fifth in Ligue 2 last season with 58 points (15-13-10).
We'll continue to update you with any developments regarding Kandji and these latest rumors.
