I'm having trouble understanding why The Chron's JJO is such a bitter guy. It seems that Jose is a tad peeved with the Dynamo for questioning why they can't seem to get more than about 700 words a week out of the Chron's "beat" writer. In case you haven't read it, and guessing by the way his blog is ignored by virtually everyone, I'm guessing you haven't, is this gem.
"Here’s some advice for Canetti and the Dynamo: Instead of doing some self promoting on CSN, radio and everywhere, how about getting out of the way and letting the players be the faces of the franchise? Nobody ever buys a ticket to see a team president, which is probably why you don’t see the Astros’ George Postolos, the Texans’ Jamey Rootes or the Rockets’ Tad Brown pimping themselves. Heck, those guys are so comfortable in their skin you don’t even see them quoted in press releases each time a player is signed."
And this: "Boniek Garcia
is one of the most dynamic players in MLS. He’s a star of the Honduran national team, and he plays in a city with a huge Honduran community. How in the heck aren’t 7,000 Hondurans at each Dynamo game?"
Sounds like Jose expects Canetti to hand deliver 7,000 or so tickets to the Honduran Community. Can't they pick up the phone and buy tickets like the rest of us?
If you were George Postolos would you be making public appearences right now? Think Rick Smith or Jamey Rootes really want to take questions from anyone about Matt Schaub?
The Dynamo management and players have worked harder within all Houston communities (AND Newtown, CT) than the "Big Three" plus the fact that they actually manage to win important games. It's hard to blame them if they would like a little more effort from the Chron.
