There was little surprise Monday morning when Head Coach John Herdman released the roster for the Rio Olympics squad. Possibly the most shocking was the absence of Gabrielle Carle, who picked up an injury during the Brazil friendlies and has not played for the National Team since the April friendly against the Netherlands. The inclusion of veterans Melissa Tancredi and Rhian Wilkinson has left plenty to discuss however.
It comes as no surprise Houston will lose Janine Beckie and Allysha Chapman. Beckie has provided an offensive spark, scoring one of Houston's six goals this year. Chapman has continued to be a defensive mainstay who, as of late, has created scoring chances of her own - something Houston is lacking this year.
