Paul Frederiksen-USA TODAY Sport

After an outstanding college career the Dash will turn to forward Tiffany McCarty for goals.

Tiffany McCarty grew up in the Washington D.C. area and attended St. John's College High School where she was the all time leading scorer with 191 goals and 74 assists. She helped lead the school to two WCAC Conference Championships and the school finished the 2007 season ranked fifth in the nation. She was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in the District of Columbia in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

After graduating high school she moved to Florida to attend Florida State University. She had 63 career goals as a Seminole including 14 game winning goals in 98 appearances. McCarty kicked off her collegiate career by leading all freshman in the ACC in points, points per game, shots, shots per game, goals and goals per game. McCarty was named the ACC Freshman of the Year. She started all four of FSU's postseason games and scored the game winner against Mississippi State. Building on her outstanding freshman year she started all 25 games her sophomore year and finished the year as the ACC leader in goals with 17. She was named the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and was a semi-finalist for the Hermann trophy. Her strongest game of the season came against Clemson where she scored 6 points on 2 goals and 2 assists. She red-shirted in 2010 due to a knee injury.

McCarty returned to the field in 2011 and picked up right where she had left off. She was once against a semi-finalist for the Hermann trophy and was also named Second Team All-American. She started all 26 games and lead the team with 42 points and 18 goals scoring in 15 games. She finished the year ranked second in points in the ACC. Once again one of her strongest games came against Clemson where she scored a hat-trick in a 6-2 FSU victory.

Her senior year she started all 24 games at forward and had four multi-goal games. With 35 shots on goal and 63 shots she finished the season with 17 goals and ranked 4th in the ACC with goals per game at 0.71. After a strong post-season run that included 13 goals she was name to the 2012 Women's College Cup All-Tournament Team. She started the Tournament by scoring 2 goals against Mississippi Valley State.

While still in school she played for the Washington Freedom in the W-League for 2007, 2008 and 2009. The Freedom won the championship in 2007. In 2011 she played for the Pali Blues a season where the team finished third in the West and failed to qualify for the playoffs. In 2013 she was drafted by the Washington Spirit in the NWSL College Draft. She had 21 appearances for the team that included 2 goals one of which was scored in the first regular season game. In September she was loaned to Albirex Niigata Ladies who play in the Nadeshiko League in Japan. She was taken by the Houston Dash as the number two pick in the 2013 Expansion Draft.

She can instigate an attack from any where on the field using her speed and athleticism. She has a sure foot that made her a proven scorer during her time in college. The Dash will look for her to get them on the score board as often as possible.
