The Houston Dynamo beat local college side Houston Baptist University 2-0 in a scrimmage Saturday morning at Sorrels Field on the HBU campus.
The Dynamo rested regulars Geoff Cameron, Brian Ching, Brad Davis, and Lovel Palmer while allowing four foreign trialists to play 61 minutes each.
The Dynamo goals came from trialists Lester Peltier and François Swaby. Peltier scored with a curling 25-yard shot in the 14th minute, and Swaby made it 2-0 in the 49th minute when he controlled a cross from another trialist, Steven Morrissey, and fired a low shot into the corner.
Houston outshot HBU 22-3. HBU senior goalkeeper Chris Dodd made 8 saves for the Huskies. Houston goalkeepers Tally Hall and Tyler Deric each played one half, making one save apiece.
The Dynamo will face their first MLS opponent of the preseason next Saturday, February 12, when they travel to Corpus Christi, Texas, to play rival FC Dallas at Whataburger Field. Kickoff is at 2 p.m.
