Non-Orange Things: Don't Cry Over Spilt Mariner

Hasn't been much entertainment going on in the MLS with the holidays; everyone's been busy gorging on egg nog and cookies. But some changes have finally started to take shape and perhaps a few managers spiked their egg nog a little too much.

Mike Stobe

    Chivas USA

Fired Carlos Llmosa who appeared to have weathered the firings and was going to be staying on with Sola. Maybe he refused to feed the goat.

    Colorado Rapids

I just want everyone to know that on the Colorado Website there is a heading that says 'Wynne Loves Cats- Speedy and strong defender shows his softer side through his love of cats."

    D.C. United

Signed Brazilian Rafael as a DP on loan for one year. He is only 20 years old and is the youngest DP currently signed.

    FC Dallas

Signed Goalkeeper Raul Fernandez. The Peruvian will take up one of Dallas' international slots.

    LA Galaxy

Re-signed Robbie Keane to a two year deal.

Also worked out a deal to keep fan favorite Mike Magee.

No word on if the wandering Donovan will be returning for the 2013 MLS season. It was announced that he will not be participating in the upcoming USMNT Hex game in February.

    Montreal Impact

Announced Marco Schallibaum as head coach. The Impact also got rid of Mike Sorber and Denis Hamlett.

Signed Italian Midfielder Andrea Pisanu from Bologna on a one year loan. Which is so weird for the Impact to sign an Italian player. The poor guy might get lonely with no one to speak Italian to.

    Sporting Kansas City

What might be one of the more entertaining rumors floating around out there is that Arsenal is interested signing C.J. Sapong for about three million pounds.

Roger Espinoza officially signed with Wigan and is no longer with SKC

    Seattle Sounders

The Sounders have sent one of their DP's on a little trip. Fredy Montero will be going on loan to Colombian team Millonarios with the option to buy. This move would appear to give the Sounders room to bring in another DP while Montero is gone.

    Toronto FC

Announced Ryan Nelsen as the new head coach which leaves Paul Mariner out as coach. Nelsen is still signed as a defender for QPR and at the time of this writing no one really knows when exactly he will be taking over coaching duties. Which by the way coaching is something that he has never done so it seems like a bit of an odd hire right? Not when you remember he is a former DCU player and former DCU President Kevin Payne is now running things at TFC.

Paul Mariner, who I think looks like Tim Allen, is out not only as coach but it has been said that he will be out with the club entirely.

Fran O'Leary was announced as assistant coach and will be handling things until Nelsen gets there such as the SuperDraft. Frankly, I feel like O'Leary should be in Chicago starting fires with milk cows and stuff.

    Cascadia Cup

The MLS announced its intentions to trademark the Cascadia Cup and managed to piss off supporters groups from all three teams. The supports groups came together and formed a council and filed for a trademark of the Cascadia Cup to prevent the MLS from doing so. Frankly the MLS should know better than to poke the people who live in the Northwest.
