We have limited information on this, but it appears Macoumba Kandji's trail in with Clermont Foot is over. According to Sport Bougnat in France, the Ligue 2 club and Kandji could not reach an agreement.

Kandji wasn't at the club's training grounds on Thursday and is not expected back. The other player that began the trail at the same time as Kandji is still training with Clermont Foot.

We were able to locate this interview with Clermont Foot coach Regis Brouard. It's in French, but the title suggests he discusses Kandji's situation with the club and contract negotiations failing.

According to the first report, Kandji could be headed for opportunities in Germany. As more details become available we'll keep you updated.
UPDATE (January 27, 2013)
According to this Greek website, Kandji could be close to signing with Kalloni F.C. Kalloni competes in the Football League, which is the second division of Greek soccer.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Macoumba Kandji (DC | 27) está cerca de fichar por <a href="https://twitter.com/search/%23Kalloni">#Kalloni</a> . Whether there is any merit to the report or not is yet to be seen. Kandji did send the below tweet earlier today, which indicates his presence in Greece is likely. I couldn't see him running into a Greek taxi driver meeting anywhere else.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Walked into a greek taxi drivers meeting! 😯 Very interesting!</p>— Mac Kandji (@mackandji) <a href="https://twitter.com/mackandji/status/295611599975235585">January 27, 2013</a></blockquote><script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
If Kandji does indeed join the Greek second division club, it makes you wonder what drove him out of Houston. Surely the pay can't be better here and the quality of the league... you get my point.
As I mentioned before, we'll keep you updated on anything else we hear.
