2014 League Schedule Released

2013 is almost gone, and with a new year will come a new season. It may start later and end earlier than last season, but it's still the same 34 match marathon. Well, we have the road map for that marathon right here, so come check it out.

On the off chance you hadn't heard yet, MLS released the schedules for 2014 league play this afternoon. The season will start a week later, end a week earlier, and yet still take two weeks off of the World Cup in mid-June.

We'll have some commentary on it, but to set that up, here's the 2014 Houston Dynamo schedule:

As was the case last year, the start times for matches in Canada have yet to be announced, though most everything else appears set in stone. Twelve of the matches will be on some form of national broadcast, with the rest on local channels (whether that will be CSN Houston or a possible successor station will depend on the outcome of that station's current legal issues.

Once again, the Dynamo will start at home and end on the road, and once again the Texas Derby will be contested early on in the season - in this case, at BBVA Compass Stadium on April 5. As is usual, the schedules will be flipped from last year - in that whichever Eastern Conference clubs that they played twice at home last year, they'll play twice on the road (and vice versa). The two exceptions are Chicago and Kansas City, whom Houston will only play twice this coming season.
