Schedule Set for Ching, Charity, and Celebration

The testimonial isn't the only even the Houston Dynamo are holding this week. Starting on Wednesday, there are a number of events scheduled to honor Brian Ching and raise money for various charities. Read on for more information.

Earlier today, the Houston Dynamo announced a schedule of events for the week, leading up to the Brian Ching testimonial on Friday night. Starting Wednesday, the Dynamo will host a number of events with the purpose of honoring the retiring forward, and many of these events will also serve to raise money for his charity, The House that Ching Built.

So, without further ado, here's the full schedule:

  • Wednesday, December 11:
    • Noon: Google+ Hangout with Brian Ching. At noon, tune in to this page to watch and listen to Brian Ching interact with fans. If you have questions for him, you can use the hashtag #ForeverChing to make sure your queries reach him.
    • 4 pm - 9 pm: Celebrity Pour at the Dogwood (2403 Bagby St.). Come hang out with celebrity bartenders Ching, Corey Ashe, Bobby Boswell, and Eric Brunner as they help raise money for Dynamo Charities and The House that Ching Built. Besides the alcohol, there will be a silent auction - including an autograph package from Ching, and leis for sale.
  • Thursday, December 12:
    • Brian Ching Retirement Party at Warehouse Live. This sold out event will feature live music, past and present teammates of Brian Ching, and will probably be a lot of fun for those of you with tickets.
  • Friday, December 13:
    • Testimonial. This, of course, is the crown jewel of the week. The rosters have been finalized and released (you've probably already seen them, but just in case, they'll be included in Friday's preview), and it should prove to be a highly entertaining event. This is the first testimonial match in the history of Major League Soccer, and features many players well worth the price of admission. Tickets are still available as of this writing, but on the off chance that you can't attend, the Dynamo will be streaming the match on their website.
So, as you can see, we have a number of events leading up to Friday's testimonial. Go to one, go to them all, but whatever you do, enjoy yourself, and remember: yes, this is a tribute to Ching, but it's also all being done for worthy charities.
