Five Dynamo Players Eligible for Reentry Draft

There's a quintet of Dynamo players eligible for the reentry draft: Bobby Boswell, Calen Carr, Mike Chabala, Alex Dixon, and Cam Weaver. Will they end up somewhere else - and who will the Dynamo pick up?

The first round of the MLS reentry draft has been set for this Thursday, December 12. For those that don't know, there are three classes of players available:

  • At least 23 years old with at least three years MLS experience, who have options that were not picked up. These players will be available for at least their option salary.
  • At least 25 years old with at least four years MLS experience, who are out of contract and whose club doesn't want to resign them at their previous salary. These players will be available for at least their 2013 salary.
  • At least 30 years old with at least eight years MLS experience, who are out of contract and whose club doesn't want to resign them. These players will be available for at least 105% of their 2013 salary.
Players selected in the first round must be offered a bona fide contract or have their options exercised. Those not selected in Thursday's first round will be available in the second round on Wednesday, December 18th. For players selected int hat round, the club will have seven days to make a bona fide offer - and if one is not reached, that club will have the rights of first refusal for that player. Any players not selected in the reentry draft will be available to all clubs on a first-come, first-served basis.

Five Dynamo players - Bobby Boswell, Calen Carr, Mike Chabala, Alex Dixon, and Cam Weaver - are available for selection in the reentry draft. Boswell and Carr are out of contract, while Chabala, Dixon, and Weaver had their options declined.

A note: this list is not final. Players and clubs have until 5 pm Eastern time on Wednesday (the 11th) to reach a new deal and opt out of the reentry process. The draft order is the reverse of the standings (including playoff finishing), so the Dynamo will be picking 16th.
