Dynamo Charities Cup: Houston will welcome Stoke City of the EPL to town

It's official: Stoke City of the EPL will be coming to Houston to face the Dynamo in their annual Charities Cup game. The Potters will be performing a Texas Two Step by playing both the Dynamo and FC Dallas in their American tour.

The worst kept secret in Houston sports is finally out. The Houston Dynamo will face Stoke City of the English Premier League on July 24 at BBVA Compass Stadium in their annual Dynamo Charities Cup. The Potters will follow that up by heading to Frisco to play FC Dallas on July 27.

Each year, the Dynamo host an annual charity game and have played Valenica (Spain), Bolton (England), Aguila (El Salvador), and Monterrey (Mexico) in the past. Every year the proceeds go to a different charity and this year the match will benefit the Building a Better House Campaign.

The Stoke squad has two players very familiar to fans in Texas. One is our own Geoff Cameron (yeah that right you will always be ours Geoff) who left the Dynamo last season go play for Stoke and the other is Brek Shea. Shea grew up in Texas and was drafted by FC Dallas when he was 17 and played for them until joining Stoke in January of this year. And a side note if you don't follow either of them on Instagram I recommend it. They hang out and wear A LOT of denim together.

Both MLS teams are at the top of their conferences at the moment with Dallas sitting in first in the West and Houston in third in the East. Stoke, however, are not fairing as well in the EPL. They currently sit 14th in the standings and have found themselves flirting with relegation as the season has drawn on.

Are you excited to see Geoff return even if it's not in orange? Give us your thoughts on this year's opponent or even who'd you'd prefer to see instead.
