This is a move the Houston Dynamo needed to make. Alex Dixon was buried deep beneath the absolute mountain of midfield talent acquired over the last couple of seasons, and it was most likely stunting his growth as a player. In his time with the Dynamo Alex Dixon has notched four regular season MLS matches. He also started eight Reserve League matches as well.
The loan is slated to terminate on May 5th, which seems a very short loan indeed.
Hopefully, Dixon can find his form and mesh with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, but I would not be surprised if he struggled there as well. I have nothing against the kid, as he is one of my favorite Reserve players, but one month is a rather succinct period of time to really grow comfortable with teammates. Especially teammates who will be relying on you to feed them the ball where they expect, and want, it to be at the right time.
So, let's hear it Dynamo Theory faithful, what do you think of the move? Does it come as a surprise? Does this move smell like another Josue Soto loan, where the guy leaves and basically never comes back?
