On a day where the full three points would be necessary to keep pace in the Eastern Conference, the Houston Dynamo were only able to manage a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire at BBVA Compass Stadium. After an 18th minute goal by Bobby Boswell was called back for offside, Cam Weaver scored in the 61st minute to give the Dynamo the lead. Just two minutes later, however, Mike Magee pulled the Fire even, and Chicago keeper Paolo Tornaghi made several saves in the late stages of the match to deny the Dynamo the winning goal.
Perhaps just as worrisome as the outcome was the cost it might have come at. Dynamo midfielder Andrew Driver was forced to exit the game in just the fourteenth minute with an injured right Achilles, the severity of which is not yet known. We'll have more on Driver when it's known, and it's hopeful that he won't have to miss too much time.
The draw drops the Dynamo back to sixth place in the East. Their next match will be on Saturday, August 3 at BBVA Compass.
