Friday evening news: Injuries, suspensions, and other miscellanea

Injuries, yellow cards, and thunderstorms - all could have an effect on tomorrow night's clash between the Houston Dynamo and Chivas USA. Read on to find out how.

Bob Levey

Well, it's Friday evening, which means that the injury reports have been released, so we can start with that:

Injury Report Presented by Houston Methodist (As of Thursday, Sept. 19)

Houston Dynamo:

OUT: Brian Ownby - Right knee sprain;

QUESTIONABLE: Eric Brunner - Right ankle sprain; Calen Carr - Left knee; Andrew Driver - Right calf strain

Good news for just about everyone save Ownby, as you can see - Ashe should be back to his normal spot, Driver, Brunner and Carr could all conceivably see time, and - probably most importantly - Boniek Garcia will be back.

Boniek had been serving a one game suspension handed down by the MLS disciplinary committee for a tackle in the Chicago Fire match on 1 September, yet he'll have to be cautious - he and Driver are both just a single yellow away from "earning" a suspension due to yellow card accumulation.

And it might not be a conference clash, but that doesn't mean that the Dynamo are taking Chivas USA lightly. Granted, you can't read much into soundbytes, but they appear to be saying all the right things heading into tomorrow night's clash, and you can't help but think that the Dynamo are going about it the right way.

In other news, the forecast for tomorrow looks to be rather mild, with temperatures only in the low 70s, though the thunderstorms that arrived today will stick around and keep the humidity up there. Just a reminder that BBVA Compass Stadium prohibits umbrellas, so keep a poncho or raincoat handy if you're going out to the stadium tomorrow night.
