The Houston Chronicle is reporting that Head Coach Dominic Kinnear with leave the Houston Dynamo at the end of the season to go coach the San Jose Earthquakes. Kinnear has coached the team since it moved to Houston in 2006 and he has a year left on his contract.
According to the report staff was informed of his decision to leave over the weekend. There had been an earlier report in the Chronicle that Kinnear had been given permission to take a coaching position with San Jose if offered one. However, the club and coach both remained mum on the report.
Earlier today it was reported thatthe team would be hiring a Vice President who would serve as a technical director.
Kinnear led the team to the playoffs every season except for two including this one and has won two MLS Cup titles with the team. He has a record of 112-88-86 in Houston.
Thursday's game at BBVA Compass Stadium against New England will be Kinnear's last home game and the team's final game of the season on Friday, Oct 24 will be his last with the club.
