After the Twitter world caught fire Wednesday night at the prospect of a trade for USWNT midfielder Carli Lloyd for Becky Edwards and an unnamed player, Houston Dash & Western New York confirmed the details around the trade early Thursday morning.
In addition to Edwards, who tallied 2 assists last year and was an asset in the somewhat-shaky midfield, they will also sent USWNT defender Whitney Engen to the Flash as well as their 3rd round pick in the 2016 NWSL College Draft. Engen joined the Dash late in the season and played in 11 games.
Lloyd played 19 games for the Flash in 2014, earning the ranking of #7 in the league for assists and #6 for shots on goal. She was also the number two scorer for the Flash with 8 goals, which tied her for the #9 spot on the list of 2014 leading scorers.
