Rookie of the Year A.J. Cochran (75%)

This was a bit of a run away with the rookie out of the University of Wisconson taking most of the fan votes and dominating the staff vote.

Cochran made his first start for the team back in April against the New England Revolution one week after making his first appearance for the team against FC Dallas. As injuries began to decimate the  backline he found him self starting in 14 games this season, but his first goal in MLS eluded him. While he did make a few rookie mistakes he proved himself quite capable and looks to be the center back the future in Houston.

Dynamo Theory Staff Vote: A.J. Cochran (100%)

Why did some of the fans pick Cochran? While a several fans mentioned that had Mark Sherrod not suffered an injury early in the season he may have been the winner. Many were happy to see him improve over the season and are looking to the future with him in mind.

"Has played with a lot of enthusiasm for the team."

"He's showing lots of potential"

"Had some rookie mistakes, but his upside will prove to pay off in the future years."

"I think it would have been Sherrod but for the torn ACL. But Cochran endured his trial by fire and you could see improvement by the end of the season."

"AJ played better as the year went on and I think he can be one of the leagues best in a few more years."
