After being handed two losses at the hands of Japan, Canada rebounded nicely in the first of two games against Sweden coming off with a 1-0 win. Dash players Kaylyn Kyle and Erin McLeod both started the game, with McLeod wearing the captain's armband in honor of her 100th cap. The match was closed doors, fans were able to keep track of the game by following along with @CanadaSoccerEN (or @CanadaSoccerFR).
"We had a 15-minute period after halftime where we wobbled, but outside of that, I thought we were in control of the game."
In post-game remarks, Coach John Herdman felt Canada seemed to be the dominant team. With Sweden providing little work for goalkeeper and captain Erin McLeod to do, few could argue with him. The loan goal of the game came from Sky Blue's Jonelle Filigno in the 44th minute off of an assist by NWSL teammate Sophie Schmidt. The second half saw Sweden with a shaky attempt which McLeod easily handled.
The second match between the two teams will take place Wednesday, November 26th at 5:30PM EST. Again the match will be closed door but fans can follow along at @CanadaSoccerEN (or @CanadaSoccerFR).
