The Houston Dynamo were active in the second stage of the re-entry draft as the bolstered their depth by adding former Dynamo defender/midfielder Nathan Sturgis and LA Galaxy forward Chandler Hoffman. The Dynamo opted to pass in the opening stage of the draft but are now free to negotiate terms with their picks from the second stage.
Following his departure from the Dynamo, Sturgis spent two seasons with the Colorado Rapids before playing 16 games last season with the now defunct Chivas USA including 9 starts. Chandler Hoffman managed to play in 8 games for the Los Angeles Galaxy in the 2014 season, usually cleanup minutes in large victories, but managed an impressive campaign with the Galaxy's reserve team/USL Pro side the Los Angeles Galaxy II finding the goal at an impress rate of 13 times in 17 appearances.
While we remain on "Cubo Watch" for updates about where the former Chivas USA star will end up in MLS, these pickups should provide Owen Coyle with flexibility and depth at multiple positions on the cheaper side of things.
