According to Jose de Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle, Coyle is in talks to become the next head coach of the Houston Dynamo. It is expected that he would be announced as the new coach next week.
Owen Coyle is primed to be the Dynamo's new coach barring a breakdown in negotiations. Check out our Story on http://t.co/nAwwXN11Qy.— Jose de Jesus Ortiz (@OrtizKicks) December 5, 2014
Coyle was the favorite for the Dynamo job from the start. He coached Stuart Holden at Bolton. Holden's input was sought by the Dynamo.— Jose de Jesus Ortiz (@OrtizKicks) December 5, 2014
Coyle has coached Wigan Athletic, Bolton Wanderers and Burnley as well as several Scottish teams. Coyle was fired from his last coaching job, Wigan Athletic, in December 2013 when the club was 14th in the table. That Coyle would be in the lead for the position is no surprise as he has had several interactions with Houston in the past. Among them signing former Houston Dynamo midfielder Stuart Holden to the Wanderers. While in Bolton the pair came with the team to participate in the Dynamo Charities Cup in 2011.
