Hey Owen,
Glad to see you are on 'vacation' in Houston. While we are pretty sure you flew in Friday just to go to the Usher concert on Friday night we wanted to make sure you had fun this weekend and didn't spend your entire time here sitting in a room...that's painted orange.
For starters we checked the weather and today it is supposed to get up to 72'F and partly cloudy so you can totally break out your favorite pair of shorts. Sunday it'll be a little colder when it drops down to 63'F you can still rock the short then if you want but it may be colder than you like. If you are wondering what the heck that F stands for that's for Fahrenheit like miles per hour it's a system of measurement no one else uses it but us. One degree Fahrenheit is equal to -17.2 degrees Celsius and if you want to do the math (F-32) /1.8=C.
We don't know how much you know about American history but the Houston Fine Arts Museum has 'Fangs, Feathers, and Fins: Sacred Creatures in Ancient American Art'. The museum also has 'Treasures from Korea: Arts and Culture of the Joseon Dynasty, 1392-1910' going on right now if Asia is more your speed.
Do you like lights? We here at DT are big fans of lights so you should totally check out Bruce Munro's Field of Lights. It 's really cool we promise. Oh and a tip they don't like it when you touch the lights.
Houston. Zoo. It's a zoo so really enough said but right now they have lights too.
Naturally the Space Center is classic Houston entertainment. Right now they have an exhibit on the future of space exploration. Also totally Houston? Mexican food! You totally timed it right because the Tamale festival is happening today.
We know you are into football but have you checked out the other kind of football yet? The SWAC Championship happens today out at NRG Park. Alcron State takes on Southern University. Epic. The Houston Texans are out of town this weekend so you'll have to catch them on the telly this Sunday. Saturday, if you are in the mood for basketball you can check out the Houston Rockets as they play the Pheonix Suns. The game is at the same place at the Usher concert so you should be able to find it no problem.
If you are looking for a little holiday themed fun 'A Disco Christmas Carol' is happening at The Red Door Theater Company. There is also a steampunk version of 'A Christmas Carol' by Stage Door Inc if you are more steampunk than disco. If you are missing England they are having Holiday Tea at The Heritage Society on Sunday. If you are looking to get your photo taken with Santa you could check most any mall but he will also be at the Houston Fire Museum on Sunday.
We hope that this helps you stay busy and have some fun in H-town.
Cheers!
