Whether you love him or hate him Owen Coyle is set to become the new coach of the Houston Dynamo. A reporter for Sky Sports tweeted out earlier this morning that according to sources Owen Coyle to Houston is a done deal.
Sources: Owen Coyle agrees 3-year deal to be Houston Dynamo manager. Expect to be announced tomor. Announcement was delayed due to MLS final— Amy Lewis (@SkySportsAmy) December 8, 2014
Coyle arrived in Houston on Friday and told waiting reporters that there were still a number of terms to be worked out before the deal would be done. Now it sounds like those terms have been worked out and he will be staying in Houston.
Many fans express displeasure at the potential hiring of Coyle. Many had hoped for a bigger name, some had wanted the team to steer away from Europe as European coaches have yet to find success in MLS. Others are fans of Wigan and Bolton who didn't like what they saw during his time with the clubs.
Coyle replaces Dominic Kinnear who left Houston at the end of the season to coach San Jose. Kinnear had been the head coach since the team had moved to Houston.
Reports are now out that the ink has met the paper.
