What exactly is a Dash Day anyways?

On February 7th, 2014 the newest NWSL franchise, Houston Dash, unveiled their kits for the 2014 NWSL season. The next day, the team held the first ever Dash Day at BBVA Compass Stadium offering fans an opportunity to meet and get to know the Houston Dash players.

The one thing I have noticed and mentioned to multiple people since day one is the Houston Dash players are extremely well-spoken. They are excellent at connecting with fans on the most basic of levels, and it is this very trait the club hoped to tap into for Dash Day.

There were Q&A sessions hosted by the Keeper from Keeper Notes Soccer Show in which fans were allowed to ask questions of various players. Photo ops and autographs from players were also available, and the new Dash merchandise was available for purchase from the Adidas Team Store.

But I think, when everyone looks back a few years from now, what made this Dash Day successful really is best explained in the following tweet:

If the players continue to connect with the young players in Houston like they did at Dash Day, it isn't far-fetched to expect the team to succeed.
