Dash Net First Pre-Season Victory

Fans got their first chance to see Houston's new soccer team in action and they weren't disappointed.

Houston Dash

The Houston Dash kicked of their first pre-season game with a 4-0 victory over Rice University on Wednesday night.

The first half squad consisted mostly of trialist but it took just two minutes for the team to get its first goal scored thanks to an own goal from Rice. Trialist Sara Campbell got into the box and hit a low cross across the face of goal when the ball deflected off a Rice defender and into the net. Nine minutes later trialist Dominique Richardson sent in a pass from the team's fourth round draft pick out of the University of Nebraska, Jordan Jackson, to score the second goal of the first half. As the half wound down, Richardson hit a ball across the back post as Jackson was able to get up and get her head on it to send it into goal.

A squad change at the half produced another goal this time with an assist from the Dash's number one draft pick Kealia Ohai. After getting past a Rice defender Ohai sent a cross to Teresa Noyola who easily finished it off for a goal just 48 minutes into the second half. The team was unable to get another goal past the Rice goalkeeper but the team had already done enough to secure a 4-0 victory.

There to see the victory and show support for the team were Houston Dynamo players Giles Barnes and Warren Creavalle. The Houston Dash players had been introduced to Dynamo fans at the teams season opening victory against New England.

The team faces Texas A&M on March 22 at 10 am for a free scrimmage at Houston Sports Park.
