It is being widely reported current professional boxer, Floyd Mayweather, is interested in putting together an ownership group with an intention to purchase the Los Angeles Clippers of the NBA. The ownership group is said to already include Oscar de la Hoya who is currently part owner of the Houston Dynamo.
One of two things could occur should Mayweather and de la Hoya move forward with their interest in purchasing the Clippers. The first would see Oscar de la Hoya sell his ownership stake in the Houston Dynamo, which would then result in a more favorable opportunity for new ownership to step in. The second, which has been reported as Oscar de la Hoya's desired option, would see Oscar de la Hoya continue ownership in Houston Dynamo while also adding to his ownership portfolio in the LA Clippers.
If fans thought having AEG as part owner was bad, just wait until Oscar de la Hoya is part owner in an NBA franchise. It is my opinion the Houston Dynamo would probably receive only the amount of financial support from de la Hoya as was necessary to ensure the long-term sustainability of the club. As fans can already attest to, and have, the bare minimum doesn't really cut it and leaves the club substantially undermanned.
What do you think?
