McCarty, Masar give Dash 3-0 win over Sky Blue

The Dash posted their first shutout of the season and got the win thanks to two goal from Tiffany McCarty and one from Ella Masar.

The Dash finally had the chance to start a game with their whole squad-almost. Meghan Klingenberg was not available because her paperwork was still not in order, but the Dash were able to start Whitney Engen.

The Dash were able to do something against Sky Blue they hadn't done yet this season-score first. As the ball made its way from one end of the field to the other Tiffany McCarty was able to get around her defender and send in a curling ball from distance that the keeper couldn't get up to stop. With that the Dash had their first 1-0 lead of the season.

They would continue to build on that lead. In the 20th minute Becky Edwards sent a cross into the box that Ella Masar got a head on and put to the back of the net. Dash up 2-0.

After going up the Dash dropped back and slowed the game down hoping to maintain their lead, but that didn't decrease their chances. Nina Burger had a chance as she broke through, but she was called offside. A minute later Kealia Ohai had a great run but as she passed the ball forward McCarty wasn't able to get to the ball in time.

Sky Blue FC came out firing in the second half with Erin McLeod having to tip the ball over the bar early on after a shot from Jonelle Filigno. McLeod made another huge save denying Filigno yet again in the 58th minute. Shots from Sky Blue continued to increase but McLeod was able to stand her ground and keep them out of the net.

Edwards was able to once again set up Burger for a run. But the cross from Burger was deflected off a Sky Blue player and Jill Loyden was able to pick up the ball. Minutes later Ohai would find space sending the ball to Noyola who would have her shot deflected.

Tiffany McCarty would get her second goal of the game after Loyden fell down as she crashed into Cutshall as they both tried to clear the ball. McCarty didn't miss the chance and put the Dash up 3-0.

The Dash were able to hold on to get their first shut out of the season and the 3-0 victory over Sky Blue FC. This game ends the teams three game road trip and they return home to Houston to face Western New York in a double header that will see the Dynamo playing a later USOC match against the Lardeo Heat on Wednesday.
