The League's Lowdown: September 18th - September 24th

A quick overview of the entire week's action within MLS games and outside the games in the news.

Steve Dykes-USA TODAY Sports

In an action packed week, as major MLS news became available and games roared on towards to beginning of the playoffs, every team seems desperate.

MLS Games of the Week:

Real Salt Lake vs. Colorado Rapids (5-1 RSL)

RSL look like they can continue to make a long run in the playoffs as they demolish a hurt Rapids team. RSL goals from Joao Plata 32', Javier Morales 33', Chris Schuler 37', Joe Nasco 45' (OWN), and Carlos Salcedo 63'. The lone goal from Jose Maria Martin  Serrano for the Rapids came from 21'.

Portland Timbers vs. Vancouver Whitecaps (3-0 Timbers)

Well as Portland focus on the games in CCL they continue to push through and win games in big times especially against Cascadia Cup rivals. Portland goals from Diego Valeri 28', and Fanendo Adi 66' & 69'.

Houston Dynamo vs. Philadelphia Union (0-0)

A game where the Dynamo needed 3 points they left with 1. It hurts but it might not be the end of it all.

Columbus Crew vs. New England Revolution (1-0  Crew)

A game where no team could get a real hold of possession, it was bound to be a one goal game in which the Crew's one man proved that he is the best. Crew goal came from Federico Higuain in the 48'.

New York Red Bulls vs. Seattle Sounders (4-1 NYRB)

What a game for the Red Bulls, if this is Henry's last year it may go out with a bang. The Sounders looked lost the entire game however and let the Red Bulls walk right through. Goals from Bradley Wright Phillips 1', 54', 56' and Tim Cahill 65'. Sounders goal came from Clint Dempsey 62'.

Montreal Impact vs. San Jose Earthquakes (2-0 Montreal)

Well San Jose continue to drop points and look like a team in desperate need of rebuilding in the off season and maybe they might be willing to sell Chris Wondolowski. Montreal goals from Jack McInerney 81', and Dilly Duka 88'.

Chicago Fire vs. DC United (3-3)

It was the game of no defense, when it came down to these 2 teams. It was sad to see United allow 3 goals from a very tame Chicago Fire. Goals for Chicago from Quincy Amarikwa 16', Jeff Larentowicz 32', and Matt Watson 78'. DC United Goals from Luis Silva 39' & 54' and Perry Kitchen 68'.

LA Galaxy vs. FC Dallas (2-1 LA)

In a battle of the Western contenders, the Galaxy are showing they might be able to win it all this year, again. However, I would not count FC Dallas out just because of this game. Goals for LA by Robbie Keane 62' and Alan Gordon 84' while FC Dallas goal came from Blas Perez 54'.

Toronto FC vs. Chivas USA (3-0 Toronto)

Well Chivas look like they will be destroyed next year which means that some team must move West which could very well be the Dynamo. Toronto goals from Jackson Goncalves 23', Luke Moore 47' and Gilberto 54'.

MLS News:

FIFA Corruption:

After the media outbreak of bribery in FIFA, American Attorney Michael Garcia has finished his investigation and has issued it to FIFA. However, it has yet to be released to the public and this week the US Soccer Association announced that it would push for the results to be made public.

2015 History:

This Wednesday the league brought together NYCFC and Orlando City in which Orlando won the coin toss and elected to choose first in the expansion draft which each team must submit players too.

FIFA 15:

This is just a shout out that FIFA 15 has been released and you need to go get it. The Dynamo players are great and who doesn't love to score goals as Brad Davis against teams like the LA Galaxy or Sporting Kansas City.
