Houston Dynamo sign Nathan Sturgis

The Houston Dynamo have officially signed Nathan Sturgis to a contract following his selection in the MLS Re-Entry Draft on December 18^th. Sturgis who played for the defunct Chivas USA last season was not picked up in the Dispersal Draft that took place November 19^th which made him eligible for the Re-Entry Draft.

The Dynamo are aware of what Sturgis can add to a team as he played 5 league games in 2012 for Houston starting 4 of those 5 games. Despite a lack of first team minutes for league play, Sturgis played meaningful minutes in CONCACAF notching 3 assists from 3 games. Following his departure from the Dynamo, Sturgis spent two seasons with the Colorado Rapids before playing 16 games last season with Chivas USA including 9 starts.

Sturgis is a versatile player that has experience playing in the midfield, primarily as a defensive midfielder, and as a center back in defense. He'll provide needed depth at both positions as the Dynamo look to gain ground in a very competitive Western Conference.
