The Houston Dynamo have officially signed Nathan Sturgis to a contract following his selection in the MLS Re-Entry Draft on December 18th. Sturgis who played for the defunct Chivas USA last season was not picked up in the Dispersal Draft that took place November 19th which made him eligible for the Re-Entry Draft.

The Dynamo are aware of what Sturgis can add to a team as he played 5 league games in 2012 for Houston starting 4 of those 5 games. Despite a lack of first team minutes for league play, Sturgis played meaningful minutes in CONCACAF notching 3 assists from 3 games. Following his departure from the Dynamo, Sturgis spent two seasons with the Colorado Rapids before playing 16 games last season with Chivas USA including 9 starts.

Sturgis is a versatile player that has experience playing in the midfield, primarily as a defensive midfielder, and as a center back in defense. He'll provide needed depth at both positions as the Dynamo look to gain ground in a very competitive Western Conference.
