The Houston Dynamo continued their late (late) playoff push by winning both of their games in their double game week. First they pulled out a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City and then finished the week with an offensive fueled 3-2 win over the Colorado Rapids. At this point in the season, the Dynamo will need to continue to win if they don't want to fall too far in the standings to eliminate themselves from playoff contention. The Dynamo hope to extend their current winning streak against FC Dallas who has had their own consistency issues as of late.
Owen Coyle's lineups in our wins last week were largely similar with the big exception being Oscar Boniek Garcia who started at right back against SKC before he was shown his 2nd yellow which prevented him from playing against the Rapids. Luckily, regular fullback Sheanon Williams received some rest against SKC and was able to slot in relatively seamlessly. Dynamo newcomer Rasheed Olabiyi also made back-to-back starts in both wins and the Dynamo remain undefeated when Olabiyi plays (correlation not causation, but it's still a nice stat).
DaMarcus Beasley also went the distance playing the full 90 minutes in each game since his return from injury and the defense as a whole looks much sharper with DMB back in the fold. Giles Barnes, Will Bruin, and Leonel Miranda have also linked well with the three playing huge roles in the offense in the 3-2 win over Colorado.
Coyle's Starting XI against the Colorado Rapids
This is the final regular season meeting between the Dynamo and FC Dallas, a rival who has had the Dynamo's number so far this season convincingly winning both of the other regular season matchups. The Dynamo will hope that FC Dallas, who has dropped their previous 2 matches, will continue their poor run in order to steal a consolation victory in the Texas Derby.
The Dynamo are no longer burdened by a series of injuries which severely affected their summer and have all players available for selection except for Jermaine Taylor, who suffered a (likely) season ending injury during the Gold Cup with Jamaica, and Kofi Sarkodie who remains unlikely to play due to a right knee bone bruise.
Owen Coyle is unlikely to stray from his previous lineups that have worked in our 2 victories last week, though it will be interesting to who gets the call at right back: Boniek Garcia or regular RB Sheanon Williams.
Erick Torres (Cubo) will also not be available as he has been called up to the Mexican Olympic Qualifying Team where he helped Mexico score a goal this past Friday. Hopefully this will help build his confidence moving forward and settle him in with the Dynamo for a potential run in the playoffs (fingers crossed).
So how would you lineup the Dynamo against FC Dallas Frisco? Do you continue with what has been working which has incorporated a bit of the veterans with a few new guys like Olabiyi and Miranda? Or do you play your most experienced players to go for the win to keep vying for the playoffs? Let us know your starting group and your formation.
