Better late than never, that's what fans are left feeling about this year's BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup match. The seventh edition of the Charities Cup match was originally scheduled to take place May 28th at BBVA Compass Stadium, but the game was cancelled after the referee deemed the field unsafe to play on after historic rains and flooding hit Houston. The cancellation of the match meant that Houston missed out on their opportunity to play Manchester City.

With many seasons in full swing Houston had to look elsewhere for opponents for this match. The team was able to snag Santos Laguna of Liga MX fame to play in the rescheduled game. The team currently sits 17th in the Apertura Liga MX standings thirteen weeks into the season. Santos won the 2015 Clausura championship, but has struggled to find success this season.

The match comes during Houston's final bye-week of the season and falls on the same day as the USMNT vs Mexico CONCACAF playoff match. Houston has pretty much been eliminated from MLS playoff contention leaving the final games as a chance for players to show that they want to be in Houston next season.

Friday, Club Santos Laguna and Houston Dynamo will host a free soccer clinic for kids from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Houston. The event will take place from 3:30-4:30 pm at Houston Street Soccer, and will include Santos players Javier "Chuletita" Orozco, Javier Abella, and Julio Gonzalez; and Dynamo defenders Kofi Sarkodie and Raul Rodriguez.

The Dynamo Charities Cup game will kickoff at 7 pm CT on October 10, 2015.
