Current Houston Dynamo co-owner Gabriel Brener is poised to become the majority owner of the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash, according to a new report.
FOX 26 reported on Tuesday that Brener will buy out AEG as the Dynamo's majority owner, alongside two other investors, one of whom is based in Houston, though both remain unnamed in the report. FOX also reports that Oscar de la Hoya would remain a minority owner in the clubs if the sale took place.
The report comes amidst speculation swirling once again concerning the ownership situation with the Dynamo, as MLS Commissioner Don Garber recently hinted at an ownership change involving AEG, and most assumed it would deal with Houston and not AEG's other team in MLS at present, the LA Galaxy. If AEG is no longer involved with the Dynamo, it would officially close the era of owners having more than one team in the league, a hallmark of the early (and often dark) days of the league.
Still, at this point it's still a report, and the Dynamo has apparently nearly been sold before and nothing happened. Stay tuned.
