On Friday, FIFA unveiled their short list of nominees for the annual Puskas award, given to the year's best goal in world soccer. The list is comprised of ten stunning shots from players like Lionel Messi and Philippe Mexes.
There's one goal on the list, however, that makes the others look quaint in comparison. It belongs to Houston Dash's Carli Lloyd and you know exactly which goal it is. The 16th minute of the World Cup Final, two goals already under her belt, Lloyd fires a half-field chip over the Japan keeper (because why not?) and seals a shocking first-half hat-trick.

That Lloyd is the only female on this list in a Women's World Cup year is a bit deserving of an eye roll. In a tournament that featured an incredible team goal by Japan and Mizuho Sakaguchi or France's Amandine Henry firing an out-of-the-box blast into the upper 90 (a common sight in this year's nominations), it's a wonder how a certain goal made the list (looking at you, Carlos Tevez).
Even so, Carli Lloyd remains the only player on this list with the balls to score THAT goal in a WORLD CUP FINAL. If she's not holding that trophy on January 11th, 2016, I think that's enough reason to burn FIFA to the ground.
