Raul Rodriguez Newcomer of the Year (68%)
The Spanish defender joined the Houston Dynamo during the offseason and debuted with the club in March against the Columbus Crew. He played in all 27 games for the club this season. He scored two goals this season including a header against Sporting Kansas City.
What the fans had to say:
"Rodriguez was the most consistent newcomer, and also scored a couple nice headers."
"He integrated himself into the group immediately. While he took time to adjust to the speed of MLS, Raul performed admirably, and repeatedly came up big for the Dynamo."
"Tough one between Williams and Rodriguez, but both have done some solid work to tighten up a leaky back-4. But I'm partial to outside backs that know how to push forward."
"Quality tackler, intercepts passes, and helped improve David Horst!"
"A different type of defender in MLS: technical & calm. He has the ability to go far, once he gets up to speed with physicality of MLS"
Dynamo Theory Staff Vote: Raul Rodriguez (75%)
Raul dominated the staff voting as well.
"Raul Rodriguez's intelligence and decision making in the back made him very valuable this year. His ability to step into passes, direct the defense, and win aerial threats showcased his talents."
