Dynamo Pass in 2nd Stage of MLS Re-Entry Draft, Taylor Selected

The Dynamo passed in the 2nd stage of the 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft while Dynamo Defender Jermaine Taylor was selected

The Houston Dynamo passed in the 2nd stage of the 2015 MLS Re-Entry Draft along with most other clubs. Like the 1st stage of the Re-Entry Draft, there were only 2 clubs to make selections and neither of those clubs were the Dynamo.

New England Revolution defender Kevin Alston was selected by Orlando City SC with the 7th pick and Houston Dynamo center back Jermaine Taylor was chosen by the reigning MLS Cup winners the Portland Timbers with the 20th and final pick of the draft. The Houston Dynamo had declined Taylor's option earlier this year which made him eligible for the draft.

Taylor has been with the Dynamo since 2011 and helped the Dynamo reach the MLS Cup twice. His strength, versatility in the back, and ability to cut out passes has always impressed Dynamo fans, but lately his speed and his decision making has hurt his favor. Taylor was injured with the Jamaican National Team during the 2015 Gold Cup and missed the remainder of the MLS season.

The Dynamo have strengthened their core this offseason by re-signing a number of their key players from last season while adding Cristian Maidana and Andrew Wenger, but have strayed away from these drafts. They passed during the Waiver Draft and both legs of Re-Entry and the Dynamo traded their first round pick in the SuperDraft when they acquired Wenger and Maidana. Still, there's plenty of offseason left for the Dynamo to make a few splashes.
