Houston Dynamo Pass in 2015 Waiver Draft

The Houston Dynamo chose to pass with their pick in the 2015 Waiver Draft which turned out to be the popular thing to do.

The Houston Dynamo passed in this year's MLS Waiver Draft along with nearly every other club. The only club to make a selection was the Colorado Rapids who picked up midfielder Michael Azira with the 2nd pick of the draft.

The Waiver Draft consisted of players whose options were not picked up by their clubs and players who are not eligible for Free Agency or the 2015 Re-Entry Draft. While the Dynamo declined options on 7 players including Luis Garrido, Oscar Boniek Garcia, Alex Lopez, and Jermaine Taylor, only GK Michael Lisch and defender AJ Cochran were eligible for this year's Waiver Draft.  Players not selected from the draft will be available to speak with clubs on a first come basis where contracts can be negotiated.

The Dynamo obviously have a plan to rebuild which began with securing players within their club to new contracts such as Will Bruin, Tyler Deric, and Ricardo Clark and acquiring Cristian Maidana and Andrew Wenger from the Philadelphia Union.

The next big offseason date is this Friday, December 11th as the first leg of the MLS Re-Entry Draft kicks off. There are a few bigger names in this draft including former Dynamo Lovel Palmer, Kevin Alston, Dane Richards, Danny Mwanga, Warren Creavalle, Marco Pappa, Robbie Findley, Pa Modou Kah, and Mauro Rosales among others.
